Winter White

Blazer - c/o Marshalls
Vest - Target
Paige Jeans - c/o Marshalls
Sam Edelman Heels - Marshalls

It's always refreshing to find great items in unexpected places.
I happened to find this dress in the little girls' section at Target, while looking for a Christmas gift for my little sister. I've worn it countless times- layered over a flannel, with a printed dress, and in this case, on top of a blazer! The great part about this being from the children's section is that the price was substantially less than the vests in the Women's department. I paid $19.99, while the vests in the women's section started at $34.99. Score!
I especially love this vest pair when paired with a cream blazer. I feel like when these two are together, it's the perfect definition of a "winter white." The vest adds a nice texture and a wintery feel and the blazer dressed up my look. I initially had on darker jeans, but I thought these polka dot ones added a fun element. Cheers to trying new things! Speaking of new, I had a little facelift to my blog. I wanted to keep it simple, but still with a splash of color- because that's me!

I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. It's supposed to be 75 tomorrow, so you better believe I'll be spending my day outdoors. Maybe even in shorts!

Thank you for reading!

Floral Dress

French Connection Dress - c/o Marshalls
Quilted Leather Jacket - Forever 21
Heels - Plato's Closet

I always love unique dresses and pretty much, dresses in general-especially because you don't need to worry about pairing them with another piece, just accessorizes. When I saw this feminine dress at a Marshalls, I had envisioned it with a leather jacket to add a little edge to the look. Most of the time when I plan out outfits, I always envision leather jackets in my looks. No idea why, I guess I just think they're the ultimate accessory! Blue is one of my favorite colors and I was sold when I saw the flowers on the dress were actually a navy blue. I bought a few other items, all in the same color family. Not sure if that ever happens to you, but I always seem to buy items that coordinate with the other items I get. If you're looking to get quality and quantity items at an incredible prices- head over to Marshalls or TJMaxx! They're having a huge clearance event. I scored a bunch of shoes for only $23 a pair and some Paige jeans for...$15! And they're currently being sold at department stores for an outrageous price. Insane!

Hope everyone is enjoying their extended weekend.

Layered Lace + Leather Pants

Ella Moss Lace Top - c/o Marshalls
Joie Leather Pants - c/o Marshalls
Heels - Target
DIY Clutch

I've always been a huge fan of leather pants. I remember in 6th trying to convince my mom that I needed leather pants. NEEDED. Needless to say, she didn't really think my 6th grade self needed leather pants, or pleather for that matter. My love for leather pants didn't fade, it only increased in time. I haven't met a pair I didn't love, so you can assume when I saw this burgundy Joie pair at Marshalls, I didn't have a hard time deciding whether or not to get them. The deep jewel tone makes for a classy version of red leather pants and you will be shocked to find out what I paid for these designer bottoms. Only $25...for Joie leather pants!
You may have noticed many of my outfits come from Marshalls these days and thats the exact reason why. I'm able to spend $25 and get high-quality, on-trend, and designer threads. Marshalls has also completely ruined me. I will stop by Target and browse through the clothing section, then I realize I could spend $24.99 on a dress that isn't great quality or go to Marshalls purchase a Dolce Vita blouse for the same price. It's a no brainer!

I'm spending the rest of my afternoon baby-proofing my house and organizing. Why is it that children are drawn to only dangerous things? Electrical cords, sharp corners, glass anything- they love it! I have a tropical candle burning, Ray LaMontagne playing, and Uriah cozy in his crib.
If you have any advice for baby-proofing while still keeping the house looking nice(if that's even possible),  please let me know!

Enjoy your weekend!

Nick's Burton Button-up - c/o Marshalls

With the new year always comes some sort of resolution- whether it's cutting back on sweets, working out more or waking up earlier...there's a resolution for it!
Every year I always try to start a workout regiment. I always set such high goals and don't last more than a month. Life gets busy, the weather gets too cold, or sitting home curled up with warm coffee sounds waaay better than running 3 miles. Or in my case, running about a block then walking the rest. Hah! This year I decided to skip the lofty goals and just try to be a healthier me. I want to refresh my life with more outdoor time. What's great about my resolution, is that it also equals more family time. I can take Uriah with me on my morning runs (or walks!) and we can hike together as a family.
I love the idea of being able to enjoy the outdoors, while staying fit!

One thing that is always lacking is my active wear selection. Usually it's comprised of tie-dye shirts, simple running capris and old sweatshirts. While they may be comfortable, they are seriously lacking in the fashion department. And I know, at least for myself, that I feel way more comfortable in something I'm not embarrassed to be seen in. Am I right, ladies?! I headed over to Marshalls to check out their active wear department and let me tell you- it did not disappoint! I bought 2 new pairs of running leggings, some great pull-over sweaters, and a few workout essentials (water bottle, new headphones since I always loose mine, and a portable speaker). I can mix and match all the items I picked out and they are such amazing quality. The sweaters are so thick, but still extremely soft which makes it comfortable for a long workout. I love the details on both of the sweatshirts- the Kyodana quarter-zip has a cute herringbone pattern and the Layer 8 pull-over has a great cowl neck detail with a cute shoestring tie. It's perfect for keeping my neck warm during a run and doesn't look like a typical sweatshirt.
One brand that is always at Marshalls is Kyodana. If you haven't tried this brand, you are totally missing out. The Marshalls close to me always carries an amazing selections. They have so many beautiful prints for their yoga pants and the fabrics they use are such incredible quality. It's so similar to Lululemon but costs a fraction of the price. I snagged 2 pairs of leggings for under $45! I couldn't even buy one pair at an active wear store for that price.

Thanks to Marshalls I'm able to stay fashionable while trying to maintain my new years resolutions, Because let's face it, whether you like the fashion or not, quality active wear really does make a difference and when you can purchase it for such an affordable price- it's a no brainer! Now, I'm not signing up for any marathons any time soon, but you just might see me running around town in some cute workout outfits ;)

Did you set any New Year's resolutions or goals?
